I am doing many auditions in the future for music camps, youth orchestra, and colleges and i was wondering which piece would be good for a solo piece. I am working on part of the clarinet concerto(Adagio) and Shummans fantasy piece. are these good picks???

i like the stravinsky 3 personally.....i am working on them ....the Weber 1&2 concerto...and the concertino.....anything by mozart....and anything that shows off what you do well. hope that i could help!!

What have you been given before? What's challenging for one person may not be for another (some of those Rose' Etudes are challenging enough when played at the proper speed!).
In other words, what's your current level? Your instructor should really be the one helping you here; some pieces, while not horribly technically difficult, can be very difficult to present musically (Saint-Saens Sonata, Schumann Fantasiestuck, for instance. Both of these are at a very reasonable technical level, but most players can really use some good coaching to bring them off).

mark has a point; only you and your teacher know the level of your musicianship. ask your teacher for some advice. but if your auditions are coming up pretty soon, i think you should play what you play best. if you are currently working on the second mvmt. of the mozart and the schumann fantasy pcs., then you should continue to work on them. if a particular work is not specified, those should be good enough for just about any major university.

Sounds good to me. If you are planning on auditioning on the Mozart Concerto, be careful. Im sure you can play it well, but in order to impress someone with this piece, you need to play it pretty much perfectly - Just because this is probably one of the, if not <I>THE</I> best known clarinet piece out there. Good Luck at your auditions!!
