Note, too, that this was put up as a 3-day auction and the seller's last (and only) positive was almost 2 years ago. If I were the buyer (which I won't be), I'd insist on escrow.

Yes, it's a very dangerous bet on this one! Also note that the seller wants overnight payment ONLY. There are too many warnings to ignore. But, someone has already ignored them.

Whooeee!
Thanks for the 'heads up', Brenda. Unfortunately, as you state, if jazzguy's bid was legit all the warning lights (including yours here) went unheeded : Although I doubt anyone who visits Sneezy's place would've fallen for it.

That's true. Any Sneezy would have asked the board to "check it out" before bidding on such an item.

Its posible too, that he has aquired a dog that just doesn't play right and the best way to unload it is on E-bay where the buyer can't test fire it first. My contra may have been one of these as it sat in storage for years and I won the bid. But thanks to folks like Ken Shaw, I had enough good technical advice on file that I had it playing right in just a couple hours.

I don't know how sellers get away with not taking things back that people don't like. I could never pull that off. My customers want to have the option to return a "dog" if one crops up. Of course, the key is to not sell dogs.

This was described as a new instrument. IMHO, even a "dog" of a new Signature would be worth having because, as Selmer's flagship model, it has to receive considerable attention from the factory's best craftsmen during manufacture and it could undoubtedly be improved through adjustment. BTW, I think you'll find that the picture was downloaded from the Selmer site as was the description, including the bit about the "treacherous" throat tones. Are there any prisons located near Monticello, KY? Did anyone else think of Grisham's "The Bretheren" while reading this ad?
Best regards,
jnk

Very good, jnk. I read that book as well. Yes, I did think this was possibly a total scam and noticed the photo. However, a lot of people try to sneak a "generic" photo onto their eBay web pages. I've even had photos "stolen" from me of my instruments. Watch out for lazy sellers!!!! Check these guys out. Anyone with a computer can sell something over eBay.
