Dialogue for Solo Clarinet and Wind Ensemble
Author: speez

Has anyone ever heard of this piece? I was asked to play it and wondered what people thought of it. I haven't received the part yet. I do know that it was written in 1978, and the composer's last name begins with a B. (I have a poor memory for names)

Almost impossible to answer without the composer's name, sorry.

Search with the word, DIALOGUE, or its other language equivalents. I recall its use by late 1800's -early 1900's composers, such as Ibert, Debussy etc and other "Romantics" . If you can identify the other insts, look in Brymer's fine repertory [sp?], for possibilities. Don

You are probably talking about Bencriscutto. He's written alot of music for band, including a Dialogue for clarinet. It exists in both a version with band and a piano reduction. I've never heard any of his music so I can't tell you what it will be like. I'm sure others who follow the bulletin board have, however. You might try starting a new thread headed "Bencriscutto" asking for opinions of his music. If you'd like to see some examples of his compositions, type "Bencriscutto" without the quotes in the Sheet Music Plus Composer link at the top of this page.

Best regards,
jnk

You can find more information about him by searching Google on "Bencriscutto" without the quotes. This link was particularly moving:

Jack,

Thank you so much; I recognized the name as soon as I saw it! I'll look around on the internet for him.
