Not directly clarinet related, but!

I went to the Dallas Wind Symphony performance Tue. eve. and there was a guest sax player by the name of Dale Underwood...................He is really good.

Has anyone heard him play? I'm sure that many of you play the clarinet the way he plays the sax. It seems as if he and the instrument become "one" .............. oh well, dream on.

~ jerry

PS maybe I should switch to percussion and play the chain...............which was played that night in a piece called "Inferno".......both decention and ascention. All it take is a pair of gloves and a strong back! This music gets more funner (or is that funnier) all the time.

I played infreno a couple of years ago. It is a great piece. The chain part is actually hard, judging from what the conductor went through to get just the right chain sound.

Dale Underwood was principle saxophonist with the Navy Band in DC for many years. I saw him a couple weeks ago at the International Saxophone Symposium in Fairfax, VA (which he started 25 years ago) He's an outstanding musician. He retired from the Navy 5-6 years ago I believe.

Dale Underwood was one of our guest artists this year for our band festival. He played Fantasia for Alto Sax, which was written for him by Claude T. Smith. I must say it was truly amazing to accompany a musician of that caliber!!

Dale is still around the DC area, and yes, he's a very fine player and a very nice guy also.
