Does anyone know anything about a weekend event at CalPoly (in California) for band? All I have heard is that you audition for it, and the tapes are due February 14th. If anyone knows about it, I'd really like to know, because a bunch of my friends and I want to try out, but there is nothing on a website. Thanks.

Most likely San Luis Obispo -- they have a fairly strong music department. Have you tried checking the web site? The event is new since I attended CP (but then, so is most everything else there since I was graduated in the late '60s), but they might have something posted. The University's home page is http://www.calpoly.edu/.

Oops, you did say you tried the web site -- sorry. If you want to try contacting faculty directly, you might start with William Johnson or Clifford Swanson. I don't remember exactly what their positions are currently, but they were both there when I was a student and both are likely to be willing to respond. You should be able to link to their e-mail through the web site.
