I recently acquired a good 10G. With same mpc, I found 10G sounds louder and brighter than my Leblanc L7.
Anybody plays this horn for orchestra work? If so, what mpc do you play?
Please post your setup and purpose. Thanks in advance.

FYI - I just bought a 10S using a Blayman m/p and it also has a much louder and I think much nicer tone than 10 other clarinets I've tried. I'm also using a shoe string as my lig . . . really. So far I have not found a regular gold, silver or leather lig that sounds better. Just thought you might want to know. Paul

I'm thinking of buying a 10G. Found a good used one that is priced right. I've owned a couple of Selmers (a 10S and a Paris Omega) and have always liked the Gigliotti stuff. Sounds good.

I play on 10Gs, using a Grabner mouthpiece. I've used a Hite and a Pyne as well. Carmine Campione played in the Cincinnati Symphony for many years using a set of 10Gs, and he used a Hite mouthpiece.
For the record, the 10G is not what's considered a larger bore clarinet.

I play on both a Bb and A 10G. The Bb, at least, does seem to be a bit brighter than the R13's I use to use. I do play them in orchestra. I use a Borbeck mpc and Vandoren V12's strength 3 1/2. I have been very pleased with the sound I get from both instruments.
Loren Kitt, of the National Symphony Orchestra, used a 10G at one time, I don't know if he still does.

By searching this BBS or Klarinet Archive, you will find experts' views that the 10G was designed on the Moenig tuned Buffet owned by Gigliotti. Unlike many people's characterization of 10G's sound as bright, Gigliotti seems to have seeked real darkness by 10G. I read somewhere ex-Vienna philhamonic Prinz(Plinz?) has a 10G as his favorite since he think this has the nearest tone to German or Wien type clarinets.
Unlike 10SII, it is very free blowing. I owned one. This was my experiment results:
1)Selmer HS or C85 series do not much 10G. This is obviously because they have
smaller bore sizes than 10G(0.574", standard Buffet bore size).
2)Vandorens matched. Especially old 2RV.
3)Pomarico grenadilla matched too.
Gigliotti made his own mouthpiece. Why not trying that one? Since he passed away, they may not continue to sell those for long.
