I have an audition in like 3 or 4 weeks, and I'm playing on a REALLY good reed. Is it possible that I could store it and come back 3 weeks later and the reed still be in the same, good, condition???
(It's a Vandoren V12 # 3 1/2)

The chances are slim...
If the reed has been properly broken in / conditioned/ sealed / stabilized/ etc...the probability is better.
However, unless you can guarantee that all the other external factors (humidity, weather) will be identical, I would suggest having at least a few back up reeds of concert quality.
Some players feel that reeds reach their peak and stabilize after a break in period of 3 - 5 days.
Personally, I would also start getting a new reed prepared in the week prior (just in case).
In know that there are others who will say they have had reeds "last" for 6 months or more. Not for me, I prefer a newly prepared reed every time...GBK

Why don't you start a couple more reeds and rotate them? Then you may up your chances of having more than one decent playing reed.

Oh, yeah....it won't last...that happened to me at my placement audition in grad school, with the most horrendous results. The reed had been fine the DAY before, and then when I went into the room for the audition...it crapped out on me. Therefore, I didn't get the teacher I wanted and had a horrible grad school experience....
