P.S. Ever heard of the minibassoons (<a href=http://www.minibassoon.com>www.minibasson.com</a> resp. <a href=http://www.fagottino.de>www.fagottino.de</a>)?
They're usually pitched in G, a fifth up.

There's this fabulous Bassoon Quartet who have released 2 albums of music just for 3 Bassoons and 1 Contra! If you think the music's full of low-frequency rumbling, you are wrong.. The playing is just superb.
A great selection from Jazz (Gershwin's 3 preludes), the exquisite Sibelius's Tempest Suite to Leroy Anderson's Bugler's Holiday (listen out for the Contra-bassoon playing the role of the Strings!).
The Caliban Quartet has a website - www.caliban.ca
Go check it out.
