From what I've heard, Tom Martin and Donald Montanaro uses an m13. Do you guys know of any other professional orchestra performers who use it?

I went to the Vandoren site once, and you'd be surprised to see how many pro's use Vandoren products. I mean, you'd think that they'd use Bay's and everything!

Many do use things other than Vandoren - if a Vandoren is one of the many products they use you may see them listed there. In many cases there's no requirement for exclusivity.

I don't know about M13, but I do know quite a few clarinetists that use the B40 and 5RV Lyre. I have had much success with the B40, but I had to play-test about 25 of them before I found the one that fits me.

I hope this helps.

I have an M13. Personally, I don't care for Bays.

John Bruce-Yeh of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra told me he uses an M13 Lyre. That was a few years ago at the Mid-West B & O Clinic, where he appeared as a clinician. As with any mpc, however, you have to find one that meets your performance needs. Try before you buy!!!! Good Clarineting!!!!!

i'm pretty sure that Richie Hawley from the Cincinnati Symphony changed from a Chedeville mouthpiece to an M13, and from that to another M series mouthpiece. He encouraged a few others in the Cincinnati area to use these around 1997/98. Personally i think my tone got worse during the time i used this mouthpiece (compared to the Zinners i've otherwise used) and i'd have to say that the best concert i heard Mr Hawley play was when (i believe) he was playing his Chedeville. Still, i used an M13Lyre refaced by Brad Behn for the ICA orchestral audition competition and won, so they can't be all that bad!
