Anna--
I guess I'm obtuse so please pardon my dumb question.
How do you expect someone to give you an answer to your question if you tell us not to read this message?

well, I could've offered my opinion on this one (since I play with a neckstrap myself), but then everybody would think me dumb for giving advice when I WASN'T supposed to read the message. SO, I'll insert my random comment on the adverse effectiveness of the title, and not give my advice. Better luck next time.

P.S.- this is only in jest, please don't take me TOO seriously. I don't mean to offend.

personally, I like the claricord. i think that's what you call it. it's an elastic velcro thing that attaches to the thumbrest.
i heard that there was one that attaches to a hook (which attaches to the clarinet like a lyre). im gonna try that if i can find it

I use the elastic BG that comes with a leather patch that slips onto the thumbrest. It works quite well for me except that each time I remove the instrument from my mouth and try to put it aside to rest, I sometimes have to readjust the strap when I resume playing -- it just doesn't seem to remember it's setting. BG also makes one with a hook if your thumbrest has an eyelet for same.
OOPS!! I wasn't supose to read this post so forget the above. BTW, you might get more response if you are specific in the title, AND I thought we just discussed the "SEARCH" issue.
HUMMMM!!

I have the Claricord because it's the only one my local music store had when I decided that I needed a neckstrap. It's always worked just fine for me, it's comfortable enough, easy to attatch and not very expensive. I only need to use it when playing on my A clarinet for a long time.
I like your title, it's effective at least. Have you ever read the poem "beware: do not read this poem" (it's really all lower case) by Ishmael Reed?

Todd,
I think it was a database question and it was directed at you.
