 clarinet ensemble pieces
Author: Adam Heidenreich

I'm currently planning for my senior clarinet recital in the fall of 1999. I need some help in trying to find a decent clarinet ensemble piece (between four and five players) that includes a part written for e-flat and a part for bass clarinet. If anyone can help or make suggestions, I would gladly appreciate them!!! Thank you!

There is a great arrangement of Rossini's Italian in Algiers, that I absolutely love, if you are interested.

Hi,

I play in Chinook Clarinet Quartet in England. Visit our website - www.madasafish.com/chinook

We will let you know about any pieces that you are interested in from our repertoire page.

I suggest you look in Brymer and Lawson, "Clarinet" for a great listing of pieces. Having played in a cl choir, look there also, much for it is arranged for the common 4 or 5 clars. Don

I liked the "Scenes from Hungary" by Farkas Ferenc. It's a
set of 8 short pieces for Eb, 2 Bb, and Bass . They are
interesting, not overwhelmingly technical, rhythmically
challenging, and good ensemble performance pieces. Editio
Musica Budapest publishes it. The catalog number is:
Z. 13 419. Dorn lists it on their site, but didn't have
it when I ordered it. In the U.S. I think you have to go
Boosey & Hawkes so order early and prepare to wait.

Back in March I wrote a ~5-minute original piece for clarinet, bass clarinet, flute, and bassoon. It's not published (or even performed in public) yet, but we rehearsed it one night and taped it, and it came out surprisingly well. If you're interested in performing it, let me know and I can perhaps send you a tape for a listen.
