I heard that Yamaha bought out Leblanc. Is this true? If it is I am very disappointed. Also, am I the only one that feels strongly about Yamaha's attempts to monopolize the musical intrument industry. They certainly have the capabilities and the money. I'd love to hear other peoples' views. Thanks.

I hope not!!! Leblanc was fine (if this is true) without Yamaha! And (again, assuming this is true) I hope it doesn't affect the quality of Leblanc instruments.

Neither Leblanc nor Yamaha have any such news on their sites.
In any case, instrument companies buy each other all the time - been happening for as long as I can see in the records. Sometimes it works out, sometimes not.
Steinway Music, for instance, owns Steinway & Sons, Selmer, Noblet, Bach, Ludwig, Glasel, and Boston.
Leblanc owns Leblanc, Vito, Holton, Martin, and Yanagisawa.
Boosey & Hawkes owns Buffet, Rico, Besson, Hofner, Keilworth, Boosey & Hawkes Music Publishing, Paesold, Shreiber, and Winter.

Are you sure Steinway owns Noblet? At least from the Leblanc catalog that I have, Noblet is a Leblanc line. Or are you talking about some other Noblet?

Yup that cut and paste will get you in trouble all the time! I probably the same a couple of times a week. With computers you can get work done twice as fast and mess up four times as fast!

This is another variation of the "cut and paste" game.
So, if one of the companies buys out another, who would we seek for parts and service for the older equipment? Do the acquiring companies support the older brands of equipment?

In most cases - yes, if the brand survives acquisition. Luckily, even when it doesn't, good technicians can fix or make just about anything - broken keys, broken tenons, etc.
