Does anyone recomend using the double-lip embouchure on a Bass Clarinet.
The one im using is a Buffet 1180, C* mpc., Rovner Lig, Vandoren 3 reeds.
Also, does anyone have any special techniques on using double-lip on a bass?

My feeling is that, although I could use it, I would only use it if my teeth were too sensitive for a single lip embouchure. The single lip embouchure is more stable which helps on the BC, and, to my mind, sounds better. A small thin mouthpiece patch is a help also on the BC if your teeth are sensitive and you need a stable mouth to mouthpiece situation. Too big or too thick a mouthpiece patch seems to deaden the sound a little. As an oboe player, I'm used to unstable situations, so I appreciate having the teeth on the mouthpiece. Good luck!

I double lip on bass.. it works fine for me. The guy who played our school bass before me played single lip for 6 years on the same mouthpiece. I have to try to order another now, because the indentation from his teeth is so deep. As for tone, I prefer my double lipped tone to his single lipped tone, and our directors agrees.
I use a selmer bundy bass, with a yamaha 4c, and size 3 rico royals.. inverted lig

I do.
It helps if you are using a peg and a neckstrap. Using the combination of these two devices means you don't have to use your teeth to balance or stabilize the instrument.

Well said, Don, very much my experience. I feel that I achieve better tonality with the double lip, particularly with my glass mp, and now resort to single lip when I am tired due to extended passages playing those great low notes! Yes I also use a mp patch on all my cls. Don
