Andrew Firth is an Australian clarinetist of enourmous abilities. I saw him pefrom live in Vancouver. He has four CD's out and I am trying to get hold of anyone of them. In particular "Let there be Firth". Problem I can find his CD's anywhere. Not in stores, by order or through the net. Please help.
Thanks Sam.

I heard Andrew perform a couple of weeks ago at the University of Oklahoma Clarinet Symposium. They were selling his latest CD at the concert and also at the Boosey&Hawkes/Rico/Buffet booth. You might try contacting B&H, they could probably direct you to his cd's

Yes, I just can't remember if it was when I was browsing through the internet the other day or in the weekend paper. I may be able to find an email address of a store over here where you can order his cd's. If I can find the page again I'll write more.

We are both Concert Artists for Boosey-Rico Grand Concert Reeds. Possibly Rico has more info on where to get his CD's. You can read his Bio to http://www.ricoreeds.com under Artists / Clarinet / Firth

Sam,
I, too, have heard of Andrew Firth and I know a specialist jazz CD supplier in my home town,I spoke to him this morning . He said that you should phone or fax him with your details and he can look after you, the supplier is as follows:-
STANDISH & COMPANY
P.O. BOX 193
MOUNT MARTHA
VICTORIA 3934 - AUSTRALIA
Ph 61-3-5974 4194 [Ask for Tony]
Fax 61-3-5974 3808
Tony tells me that he can get in the Firth CDs if you want. You will pay about $25-26 [Aust] + $3-4 sea freight or $5-6 airfreight.
I agree with you that Andrew Firth is a fine musician [I wish I had some of his technique], but, if you really like good jazz clarinet, then you should listen to another Aussie musician by the name of Karl Hird. Kard has all the tone, technique, phrasing, good chops, repetoire etc....and he does it on an Albert system clarinet.
There is a CD you can get called 'KARL HIRD TRIOS' on Stomperphone Records. Again, Tony Standish can help you with this one.
Happy listening.
