It's wonderful, my private teacher has one and he loves it, it's a bit heavier than the R13 and it's holes are larger and more spread apart but it's a beautiful instrument!

The R13 had gone through some changes by then, some 12-13 years after its introduction!

You can also to http://www.sneezy.org/Databases/LogsIndex/index.html and search for the word" Vintage.

As noted in my posts at one or more of the above sites, I had had trouble with playing sharp on my Vintage. It apparently was in my technique as I was biting too hard and did not have a proper embochure. At the Combs clinic (see other posts on that topic), it was suggested that I make some changes which I have done, including getting barrel tuning rings (washers) and all these things help me a lot.

I like my Vintage and would recommend that anyone in the market for a new horn try it. Especially at IMS.

I got a vintage about a month ago, and I'm very happy. I like the dark focussed tone, and find projection in orchestra easier than my 15 year old YCL-62II. Actually, its the only clarinet that I've liked better than my Yammie, although the opportunity to try out dozens of models where I live is somewhat limited. I find intonation in orchestra and ensemble work slightly different, but basically very good. I'm now even used to the alternate left hand Eb key which I kept whacking by mistake at first. Its as if all my christmasses have come at once!
