 Anyone seen Maxtone?
Author: ron b
Date:   2001-12-13 22:25

Maxtone clarinets are beginning to show up on eBay. Maxtone produces saxophones too. Oodles of them on eBay. Other than that I can't seem to find out much about them; who makes them or where they're made, China - Taiwan(?) or what quality they are. Anyone else know anything about Maxtone? Haven't seen one up close and personal... yet :|

I always judge a clarinet by how it's name is anagrammed...

"Maxtone clarinet" anagrams out to:

1. "next recital - moan"

2. "oriental cent, max"

3. "me: clarion extant" ...GBK

Hi Gordon,

There's something I don't understand from your preceding post:

When you say "Utter rubbish," do you mean it's not good, or that you want us to say, "rubbish," after we read it? (Just funnin' ya.)

Peter

LOL! ....or that the previous posts were rubbish.
Nah! I mean the instrument, both to play and its construction.

Gordon;
There seem to be tons of Maxtone saxes floating about. I've only seen one, at a distance, in a repair shop for a checkup. The tech was making awful facial contortions - so I didn't ask. Have you serviced any Maxtone saxes? I was unaware they made clarinets until I saw some on eBay earlier this week.

Ron B: No, not many. Last one was 1996.

GBK: Very good! How do you do that? A computer programme?
