It's a beautiful piece, but I don't recognize it. You might warn folks that it is a rather large file to download. It could take a while depending on the type or server/modem that you have.

If you have "Get Right" you can usually use the download options in it to download separate segments from up to three servers at one time and cut the download time of almost anything by two thirds of the time it takes to download something without it.

Of course, the faster your system, the faster the download, but it works well with all modem speeds and types.

I just used it for this download and it took seconds to download it. There are other advantages, as well.

Get it at www.getright.com. It's a free trial item (I think it's about $25.00 U.S. to purchase, if and when you decide to do so.)

My computer said it would take one hour and 24 min. to download. I think I'll have to skip that because I can't keep the phone line tied up that long. Sorry. I'm sure it's beautiful.

When people use programs like "getright" here on Sneezy I shut them down, as do a lot of other small hosting companies. It totally eats up the bandwidth if they're hooked up to a fast download connection. No one elase can use the server while they hog the bandwidth. I have to pay a significant amount every month for Sneezy's connection, as does every other site. If in fact it's one of those huge sites that pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for bandwidth - the bandwidth is a drop in the bucket. But for people like me - who don't make much money at all because they're essentially performing a public service - those programs do a horrible disservice. I know that most people never think about it because it appears as if the servers have infinite bandwidth and since you're not paying for the download it doesn't seem like a problem. In Sneezy's case we have a 768K SDSL connection that runs just over $300/month. I compress the output of the pages on the fly to get essentially a 3M connection - but music and pictures essentially don't compress, so they really use up the bandwidth.

I'd love to have a better connection, but moving the machines into a location where they would have really good connectivity would run me well over $1000/mo (2 machines located at a high-reliability facility ain't cheap!)

The transmission is any case is limited by the slowest part of the communication s link. Having 3 FTP or HTTP processes running on a 28.8 modem will not increase the speed by 3 - in most cases it won't increase the speed by anything at all.

But your wallet will be significantly lighter.

Mark, I'm not sure I "dunderstand" your post. If I "copy" a URL, go to a new window and "paste" it in and call it up what relationship does that have to Sneezy? I didn't thoink it was holding Sneezy open for anything. As this will undoubtedly come up again could you address it in a separate posting?

Second Bob Arney's request.

I also was not aware of this effect on the BB from using a program such as Get Right. My understanding is that if I'm downloading from a link that takes me to another site, it shouldn't affect Sneezy at all.

Is the idea is that we should be concerned with how it affects the other site as a moral issue? A do unto others..., golden rule kind of thing?

I also wouldn't mind seeing this in its own post, as an item up for discussion, so we can all ask questions and perhaps learn something from it.
