Hi !
I'm from Long Island, NY and I'm having a REALLY hard time finding an A Clarinet. Does anyone know of a place where I buy one at a reasonable cost or rent one ? I play in an Long Island Orchestra, and am having a REALLY hard time transposing all my music. If anyone has any info. I'll be forever greatful !
Thanks
Laurie

Call Fred Weiner (their store is in Mineola) and tell him of the price range that you have in mind. He will set up a time you could come down and try as many A clarinets as you want.
Finding a rental A clarinet is difficult. Very few, if any ever find their way to the rental market, and the ones that do are usually pretty shop worn. If you are serious about the clarinet and you plan on playing in orchestras now and in college (and beyond) an A clarinet is a must.
Prices of new clarinets are the lowest they have been in many years. Now is probably a great opportunity to make a deal.
I know Fred and Mark (his repair tech personally). If you want to use my name, email me off line...GBK

Laurie--
If you're up for a trip to the city another possibility is Woodwind & Brasswind (W 23rd between 5th and 6th) Call Jonathan Watkins (800) 767-5764 (212) 627-5764.
I hope to get there today, and if I do I'll check on A's and let you know. You may e-mail me off-line also.

I saw advertisement in Newsday last week for Buffet A clarinet for $1150-. Check today's paper to see if add is still in there. If not get last weeks edition. Look in classified under musical instruments.
