I purchased my E-11 brand new on E-bay last year for $589 from a private dealer with the warentee and everything. They normally sell for a little over a thousand dollars. I love it...it plays beautifully. It isn't too hard to find the great clarinets for good prices as long as you do comparison shopping and occassionally, depending on where you are purchasing it, a little bargaining.

If you go to www.clarinet.nl (which is Matthew's Music in Holland) They have the best prices that I have seen anywhere.

R-13's shouldnt cost you more than $1600 and Festivals for about $2000. I just tired 6 R-13 at Chuck Levin's Washington Music Center last weekend. Also tried Prestige and Vintage but wasnt impressed for the price difference. Also tried a used circa 1930 Buffet with the wrap around register key. It actually had the nicest, darkest tone IMO...but key work was shot. Fun to try though. Blake Arlington, VA
