Several recents posts recognizing the passing of distinguished clarinetists prompted me to wonder: "Who are the best young clarinetists today?" Who have demonstrated virtuosity as a young adult that may make them a part of the next generation of great players?

Julian Bliss...check other threads and www.google.com search engine for information. Does anyone know if he has any recordings and where to get them?

I had the lucky chance to hear little Julian at
Clarinetfest 2000, hosted by OU. He began playing
at age 4. I think he is 11 now. I bought the cd
of the recital he performed at the fest. All of
the repertoire he performed was memorized!!
He is a great crowd pleaser!

Definetly Anthony McGill (Cinncinnati Symphony) and Scott Andrews (Boston Symphony) and Ricardo Morales ( MET) he's fairly young as is Michael Rusinek. They are all fabulous musicians!

Michael Rusinek, pricinple clarinet in the Pittsburgh Symphony is definately an AMAZING young artist. he's only 32. I have studied w/ him this year so far and will continue to have the privilege of studying w/ him for the next 3.5 years here at Duquesne University here in Pittsburgh.

I think John Manasse belongs in any group of outstanding young clarinetists. Listen to his Weber recordings.
Best regards,
