Casey,
Sure, there is more than one band arrangement of this piece. Yes, I've programed for band before. I agree it is a pretty piece.

Its actually a choral piece, we do it in church choir most Christmas Eves. Sometimes one of the vocal soloists does it, and we've had it done by harp and violin as well. Last year the violin and a flautist did it. Its a beautiful piece as you've discovered, and fits well with a candlelight service of music and readings... (Well yeah, the pastor expects to preach as well.) Our Christmas Eve service lasts about 75 minutes and includes 40 - 50 minutes of music including congregational singing. By the time we sing "Silent Night" the only light in the church is from candles. I should add that the church is American Colonial in design and the candlelight works well there.
The translation of the title is more like "Jesus the child" or "Baby Jesus."

our director just pulled it out of the archives last week.. we haven't sighted it yet, though.. I didn't at least, they may have done it the week I was sick, but I'm not sure. If we play it Monday night, I'll let you know what I think.
