 A clarinets

I'm in the market for an A clarinet, and I'd like some advice on whether I should try to match my Buffet Crampon RC Bflat, which I really like, or should I be looking for different qualities.

Cannot comment on RC's, but because the bores are designed differently, R-13 A & B-flat instruments are not really matchable. My memory of what Stephen Fox said in 1988 is that the upper part of the R-13 B-flat bore is polycylindrical, where the A is conical.

Given that, you might as well play on as many choices as you can within your time and monetary budgets and get what works the best for you.

Go to an ICA convention and play on everyone's instruments - this will definitely be an eye-opener for you. Or go to Woodwind/Brasswind in South Bend or any other mega store where there are a lot of things to play, and plan on being a pain in the butox to the salespeople for as long as you and they will tolerate. Bring a friend along for a 2nd opinion. Have fun. Then decide.

I have an RC prestige Bb and recently bought a RC A.
It's a bit more resistant, but at least the intonation and response is similar.
If you have the $$ you should give a shot at the festival.I tried the 3 R13, 2 Vintage, 1 Festival, 4 RC and 2 Yamaha.
It was close call between the RC and the Festival which was too expensive.

Is Festival that expensive?
I paid $2000 for my new Festival (Bb) a month ago and I don't think it's too much expensive compared to same level instrument.. well I don't know.. What's the listed price by the way? and how much is the Festival usually cost? Thanks.

When I was ready to buy an A clarinet, my teacher suggested I buy the same brand and model of clarinet as my Bb because the intonation characteristics would be similiar. I have found that to be true with my clarinets, which are Selmer 10Gs.

I have a B flat and an A R-13. I tried a Festival A and found it to be way too resistant. Just my two cents.
