 CA workshops/masterclasses
Author: Laura

I was wondering if there was a website or some type of regular mail newsletter that has information on upcoming workshops or masterclasses in California. Or if anybody knows of any coming up, I sure would like to know. Thanks.

Laura: If you are in the San Diego area you might like to know about San Diego Clarinet Society. You, or anyone reading this, can contact me via email and I will be happy to provide information about meetings, etc. Chuck

Chuck - whatever happened to the S.D. Clarinet Society website? I always enjoyed reading it.

Lynn: Just like the house-plant that needs watering--hope we can find someone computer literate in our midst who can bring this back up. Chuck

CA is an abbreviation for California.

I've actually been wondering myself about the San Diego Clarinet Society website and meetings. I stopped attending a few years ago during the period meetings were moved from the Musician's Union to San Diego State U.

Check out:

I went last year and thought it was very informative. Miles runs a very nice conference . In fact I've been asked to be one of the featured soloists this coming January and will be playing the Brahms and Beethven Trios with my CSSB fellow faculty members.

Gene: good to hear from you. San Diego Clarinet Society is again meeting at the Musician's Union Building, 1717 Morena Blvd, San Diego. The first meeting of 2002 will be at 6 pm, January 13th. Hope to see you there. And please let this be an invitation to anyone in the area to come out. Bring your horn--we do get into the Clarinet Choir literature at all of our meetings. I would be glad to send additional info to anyone asking for it. Just give me a snail mail address. Chuck

I sure wish I lived close enough to San Diego to attend. Orange County is a little out of the way....dang it.

Chuck: glad to now it's still alive and kicking! I still get the mailings about the group now and then. Is Charlie (Macleod) still running things? I used to study with Dorea Tate, who was on the board (though I don't know if she's still doing it or not).

Lynn: I'm actually in Orange County (I used to live in San Diego) and probably will drive down for the January meeting. A few of us clarinerds out here will be going and you're more than welcome to carpool with us if you'd like! Fire me off an email.

Gene:Yes, Charlie Ellis-MacLeod is still the man . . always helping, teaching, and working with us. He continues to conduct our choir and is a great source of clarinet choir literature. Dorea Tate may not be on the board now but she did give us several entrants last year in our Young Artists Competition. Very nice of you to offer the carpooling--Lynn, hope this is helpful to you--and very pleased to know that you will be bringing other clarinetists with you. If anybody is packing an eefer, bring it, we seem to always need help there. Chuck
