He taught at my school. I just heard about it today as a I came out of class and talked to one of his students. I went to our Orchestra Excerpts class that he teaches and all I can say it is weird not being in the class without him teaching. The clarinet world lost a good human being.

His father was an Italian and his mother was a Hungarian. Then, he seeked for German tonality. Before he played as a substitute for principal Ralph McLane, he had been invited as a principal to CSO. Ormandy seemed to know McLane's ill condition from his doctor. We can listen to his clarinet in some of Henry Mancini's CDs too. My deepest condolences too.

i met him at the fest and I must say he was one sweet old man. When Eddie Daniels called him up on the stage to perform togeather they had a blast. There was such joy on his face when he was performing. I will never forget that he said that he had his first performance on that stage many many year ago. May he rest in peace.

It is a great loss to the clarinet community. He was truly one of the few remaining links to a previous generation of players, teachers and the legendary conductors. His contributions as a player and teacher was enormous. Luckily have his recordings.

He always was, and will be forever hailed as the "God of Clarinet" in Philadelphia.
