My band teacher has told us to use "da" instead of "ta" when we play ode to joy in our christmas concert, Thursday. I can't get that sound! Whenever i try i get the "ta" sound! Help!

Sara -

I think he wants a smoother articulation. Don't stop blowing, and stroke the tip of your tongue across the tip of the reed as if you were saying "the" ("dthuh"). Move the tip of your tongue slowly and touch the reed lightly. Practice it really slowly -- so that you move the tip of our tongue onto and off gradually, muffling and unmuffling its vibration a little at a time.

Good luck.
