A kid that plays with me in my Junior Orchestra bought a clarinet off of Ebay and it was a Jean Barre clarinet. I have never heard of this brand, and I can't seem to find it. Does anyone know ANYTHING about this brand?

The Barre clarinet on eBay at http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1490662782 is, as the seller says, a Normandy stencil. Normandy is the name Leblanc uses for its plastic student line. They're decent student instruments.
If you look at the photo, you'll see that the trill keys go in a straight line rather than having the pad cups set at an angle. If your friend's Barre clarinet has this style of keys, it's also a Normandy. Otherwise, it's made by some other manufacturer.

I think so. The Normandy trill keys have a unique shape, in a straight line all the way up. I've never seen any other model that looks that way. On this one, I'd trust the seller's description.

The Jean Barre that the boy has is wood. Does Normandy make a wood?

Yes there were many wood Normandy's some that were quite nice instruments. At least much better than the Normandy's of today. Of course that is only my opinion. The old Normandy's had *in line jump keys* but to my limited knowledge and experience with them they were pointed like other Leblanc clarinets. The Noblet's had the straight trill keys like the clarinet referenced above. The modern Normandy's have the straight trill keys like the one on e-bay. This clarinet looks like a Leblanc though and it looks a lot like a Normandy.
