Well, I heard he uses a Gennusa, which would make sense cause they kick butt. I've had mine for 7 years and still like it plenty!

I've tried Gennussa's mouthpieces before by force. He's very senile old man now and doesn't know when to stop bothering people.
But that aside, they just didn't have much of anything. No presence, the tone wasn't that great little if any response. Fine for high schoolers i think, but i don't think they'd really cut it in the professional world unless they had some work done to them. Maybe his older mouthpieces when he had more wits are better.

I found Mr. Gennusa to be charming and lovable, maybe eccentric. But I think your comments are innapropriate.
When I was 17 years old he sent me a wonderful mothpiece I still play exclusively (at 24). With that I have developed a sound that has brought me more praise than I deserve, from trusted peers to my favorite recording clarinetist. I can make my sound wide and fierce or delicate and tender. Cold as steel or soft as cotton. Maybe if you live in a world where all you do is try to sound "rounded" and "dark" and pretty much like a typical clarinetist wants then a mouthpiece with this sort of variety may not be right for you. (Then again, I do believe a certain bad-ass with the initials JBY played one). As a young man on the scene I've come to terms with my sound and like it a lot, I wish you could hear it sometime. Maybe after a blast of sonic love you too would be senile from the radio active exposure to my uranium based altisamo.
Another thing: G man charges a FAIR rate for his pieces, unlike a lot of rich suckers who want to milk brother musicians pockets for their own, REGARDLESS of the quality of the product. BEWARE of these people and don't be fooled by their fame and attitude. If they don't care about you, how are they going to care about your SOUND. I have to give it up for the truly beautiful Everett Mattson who refaced my Bass Clarinet C* for just $15 cause I was low on funds. He did Harold Wright's pieces! That mouthpiece changed my world a good deal. Also I pay respect to the brilliant Wells whoses strange curved rails I blew on for five years. I had it refaced and screwed up while at a music camp and he charged me $5 and an ethics lesson to fix it.
Gennusa is old school, straight up, and deserves no disrespect.

The best thing to do is _not_ stop by Iggy's booth at a festival. Try them via some other means. He doesn't like people to leave without buying one, and it's _your_ fault if you have a problem with them. Really. I watched him selling his mouthpieces two different times, a year apart. The mouthpieces may be great, but I wouldn't deal with him directly, either.

One of my catalog says that he plays the Yamaha YCL-CS and a YCL-SE. These are the top of the line Yamahas, if I remember it right. :o)

JBY is one of my favorite clarinet artists and I think he would sound good on anything he might put his reed (ricos) on. It's not so much the clarinet as the master musician--I think this is true for all of those great players out there. The old question still applies--"How do you get to Carnege Hall?????" You all know the answer, but basic tallent really is an advantage. Keep your chins flat and have fun, thats what is all supposed to be about--too bad we cant all be great. Nice to be good, though.
