 Tuning bar NO!, Tuner YES!

Seaching Arundo Donax, I found a volume of an Internationlal Double Reed Society volulme, where a bassonist recommends not to use tuning bar since it has partials other than pure A=440Hz and but to use modern tuners.

(Astonishingly, I found we can read all of the IDRS magazines on line! )

True, but one should always carry a tuning fork in ones case in the event of a battery failure.

I dont trust the electronic. I have done a couple of tests with an Albert system clarinet that I use occassionally and it sounds as flat as hell to the ear and against a tuning fork but 3 different brands of electronic/digital tuners pronounced it correct. I have witnesses!!
