Where is it used, D clarinet

One more question. Is the D clarinet stilled commonly used anywhere in the world?

Plenty orchestral pieces use the D. Stravinsky's Rite of spring, Strauss' Till Eulenspiegel, Bartok's Miraculous Mandarin. Some players transpose them onto the E flat, but if you possess one the D is sometimes very useful even to transpose the other way round. Some orchestral E flat parts are in very unfriendly keys.
I suppose the most common use, though, is in original instrument orchestras (normally reproductions) where the D, C, B flat and A seem to crop up about equally

In Eueropean orchestras we use D-clarinet for anything that is written for it. It's very handy and is used together with the Eb -clar. in the same way as the A.cl. is used together with the Bb.
Considering the awkward keys that many Eb parts are written in it shuld be used more. Like in the beginning of Daphnis and Clo�, written in B major very fast, I always transpose on D in C major. Besides the pieces mentioned by Mark above, I have played a couple of other pieces that I cant remember at the moment.

I also use a baroque 3-keyed D-clarinet for the Molter concertos. A copy of the Scherer original in the Brussels museum (924) pictured in Rendall "The Clarinet" plate 1g.

I read somewhere, a very long time ago, that certain clarinets, in certain keys were used for the ethnic or traditional music of some countries.

I seem to remember there were "D," "F," "G," and I can't remember what other instruments mentioned.

I will try to find it, but I don't think I kept it at the time.

Does anyone else have more specific knowledge of this? If so, could you produce a list of which instrument is used in what type of music?
