I recently acquired what I believe to be a Buffet R13 Clarinet in A, Serial Number 126xxx. On the upper section, stamped right under the Buffet logo are the inititals "EMF". The letters are all capital, look like typewriter print, about the same height as the logo lettering, and they appear to be professionally "stamped" into the wood.
My question is; is this just someone's initials or could it be some factory designation? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry---it's just, these were my grandmother's initials. I grew up seeing "EMF" on wallets, handbags, and luggage. I apolgize for my impertinence!!!! More to the point, perhaps the initial "E" is "Ecole," and the instrument was the property of a French school. Good luck with your search!
