Hi.
I have a BG Super Revelation ligature and was wandering if anyone knows what the "BG" stands for? My friend told me that it stands for Benny Goodman, but i'm sorta skeptical on that. Any help would be appreciated.Thanks

I don't really know anything about the line of products you're talking about, but I wouldn't find it hard to believe that it stood for Benny Goodman. They'll slap a celebrity's name on anything if they think it will help it sell. No offense to anyone, but that's how it is.

Hey I just got my BG Super relavation too, it sounds a lotbetter than my Rovner and plays musch more easier too. I'm not sure what the B&G Stand for but Benny Goodman does sound practical. This may sound stupid but whos Benny Goodman, my teacher told me I should know who he is, so I'm guessing he has something to do with the clarinet.

Benny is one of the most famous clarinetists of all time. Are you familiar with the Big Band songs such as Sing, Sing, Sing or Don't Be that Way? Those are two of his biggest hits. He was a very talented performer, and one of my personal favorites. You should rent the movie of his life, the Benny Goodman Story. It takes you from his childhood, up until his historic concert in Carnegie Hall. Get to know him, you will love him!

BG ligatures, swabs, straps, etc., are made by Franck Bichon in France. I have a 'tradition' and a 'revelation' ligature both of which are better for me than any other I've tried. I don't think the French would use 'BG' to imlpy any connection with Benny Goodman. I think it has more to do with where their factory is located 'Impasse des Glycines'.
Whatever the origin of 'BG', their products are 1st class.

Benny Goodman is one of the most talented clarinetists I can think of. Listen to his solo on "Sing, Sing, Sing"....but he also had a great career as a classical soloist.
By the way, B & G is the last names of the people who started the company, NOT Benny! I'm not sure who the G stands for, but that's what I've been told.

In doing some clarinet "horsetrading", I found what turned out to be an excellent mouthpiece with a signature -Benny Goodman- and above it BG in a circle. Likely, because of his fame [world-wide], he copyrighted his signature and then licensed manufacturers to sell cl products as such. If the USPTO site can be searched for trademarks, I'll see what can be found. Don

wher you'll find out all about BG products, etc. They've only been going for about 12 years, and are based in France.

Thanx, Roger, interesting but appears not really related to Benny. Looking into trademarks [not copyrights as I may have said] , the name Benny Goodman is TM'd by US persons and with "Collections----" to a German! There are many BG's, so possibly my mp is TM'd by some combination, but thats beyond my knowledge! Don
