I've been using the BG super revelation ligature for the past month. While I am happy with it, I have noticed my reeds, move from side to side on my mouthpiece if I apply a little pressure with my finger. My reeds seemed to remain firmly in place with my Optimum ligature. Is this a charateristic of cloth ligatures?

I also had this problem with my super revelation ligature. It became such a pain that I eventually quit using it in favor of a metal ligature

The matter of the choice of a ligature is should be a personal decision. Many great players can be named that use most any brand. I think it is helpful for us to share our experiecnces concerning this choice. For example, what do you like about brand and x and why you did not like brand y and z.
Here goes;
Rovner/ deadens the sound too much
BG Rev/ plays like the Bonade inverted but does not hold the reed firmly
Bonade inverted/ my faovrite, but requires too much tweaking

If super revelations are set too sharllow(i.e. too near to the tip), those things would
happen. However if settled deep so that its countour matches that of mouthpiece,
it can grip the reed firmly enough. I rather make it a rule not to fasten the screw too much. This ligature allows me to emit very brilliant(not cheaply bright) tones and suitable especially for Itallian music. A ligature used by a Metropolitan Opera soloist is by no means a lemmon.
