Ok, I am doing a Christmas thing on Dec. 1st with my clarinet and I need an idea for a song to do. It needs to have a piano part with it. I would also want it to tell about the real meaning of Christmas if you know what I mean. Well, please reply soon. Thanks!

I definitely know what you mean. YOu could do the 12 days of christmas and explain what everything symbolizes after each verse, or something like that.

You didn't specify secular or religous (though for me the "real meaning" is the religous one.) "O Holy Night" (Adolphe Adam) is beautiful on clarinet. Phrase it like a singer would. I'm not aware of a B flat part, but it is not too difficult, transposition shouldn't be too bad. (The pianist gets the workout.) There are 3 verses, and the melody changes a bit with each.

Kyle -
For holidays, the best tunes are the ones you grew up with. "Silent Night" is one of the great hymns. So is "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen."
If you want to branch out, there's lots of older Christmas music in Latin, for example, "Resonet in Laudibus" (in German, "Joseph Lieber") and "O Nata Lux," and Britten's "Ceremony of Carols" also has wonderful things.
Especially for Christmas, you should stick with the familiar music. It's what people expect and what makes them feel best.
Best regards.

Kyle--You can find this in "The Ultimate Christmas Fake Book", page 107 from Hal Leonard Pub. Co. ($14.95 USD) Mine is " For Piano Vocal, Guitar, Electronic Keyboards, and all "C" Instruments. Hey! Let the piano play it through about four or five times and then after you hear it you can play it by ear--in just about any key you like.Bob A

To Bob Arney-if you get a chance, if you don't mind could you scan the "Oh Holy Night" for me, that is of cource if you have the fake book. This would be great. Thanks!
~Kyle~
PS: I was going through my church one sunday night, and I found a huge music library type thing, and it had a fake book looking thing that is 30 years old. I just thought that was really cool. And it has alot of songs I know.
