I am doing the First concerto (mvt I) for a recital, and my teacher recommended the Karl Leister recording, and if I couldn't find that, the Sabine Meyer. The problem is, I can't find either of them! if anyone knows where to find them, I would appreciate it. Also, what sort of things should I look for on either CD? (tonality, musicality, etc) thank you!

The Sabine Meyer recording is on a CD called Clarinet Connection- maybe you should search for that. The other pieces on the CD are the Mozart Concerto (a little too fast for me but I like her tone) on basset clarinet and a Stamitz concerto.

The Sabine Meyer recording entitled "Clarinet Connection" is a reissue of her 1986 recording of Weber #1 . This reissue includes the Mozart Concerto, Karl Stamitz Concerto (Bb Major) and the Mozart "Gran Partita" Serenade #10 K.361.
The recording is EMI #CDC 5 55155 2

CHARLES NEIDICH has a wonderful recording of this, it is on a CD with the second concerto, the concertino, and rossini's Introduction, Theme, Variations.the cover has a disassembled Buffet and the words ORPHEUS. (orhpheus chamber orchestra).

Jon Manasse has a Fabulous recording of all of the Weber Concertos i strongly suggest those as well if you do have a problem finding the Meyer or Leister recording... i take it your teacher prefers the dark germanic tone to that of the more lively french tone.

I found a version of the Weber by Karl Leister - but it is only available (as far as I can tell) in Germany. It is a recording of the number 1 with Karl Leister and the Berlin Philharmonic, it is called Blaserkonzerte, I think, publised by Galleria and Deutsche Grammophon. If any of you know how to get it in the states, please post! Thanks.
