Hey Guys,
I have started restoring the one-piece Bb Full-Boehm clarinet I purchased. Its going to be wonderful when its done. The only problem now facing me is finding a decent case. The clarinet case that came the clarinet is in Horrible condition. I don't see how the instrument survived as long as it did. Does anyone know of someone who makes modern clarinet cases for single-piece clarinets ? Ideally I am looking for a Bb version of the standard Eb soprano clarinet case. The instrument is in 4 parts. (Mouthpiece, barrel, Bell, and main body)
Does Wiseman make one ?

Do you have a friend who loves to do woodworking projects? Offer to pay for both time and material. Upholstering might be a little time consuming, if it's your first try... but, you only have to do it once 
About the only thing you might find useful on eBay would be a metal horn case and you'd probably have to leave the bell attached to fit your horn in it; I don't think you wish to do that.
Customizing seems to be the way to go. I mean, you're investing your time/material in restoring a nice instrument. A custom case shouldn't be that costly. Ferree's sells case hardware, handles, hinges etc.

Occasionally you can pick up a case originally intended for an old metal clarinet - typically a cheap option - on ebay - about $15.00.

Recently I got disgusted with the quality and cost of Instrument
cases. Even the $200++ ones do not really protect anything
(in my humble opinion). I have undertaken an exercise in
making my own dual clarinet case, so far, materials are less
than $100.00 and I can run a truck over it, with no damage
to case or clarinets. If you are interested, contact me

Rossi C;arinets come in just such a case, don't know how easy it is to get just a case though

I have a Rossi. The case appears to be remarkably simple. Bob, if you live near NYC, I'd be happy to let you have a good look so as to take measurements. I suppose you could even borrow the case for a day or so, if needed.

One answer, one question. It sounds like you have a number of options but let me offer one more. My friend is a retired cabinet maker and makes fine furniture every now an again for cheap in any wood and needs the pocket money. I have been working on my own case configuration with the proper materials, making my own molds, etc. and not using urathane foam as the filler under the velvet. If you wish you can contact me off the air.
Question - how many really carry a double case - I do not like Buffet's because the bell remains attached all the time, most others are like a two suiter suitcase in size. I carry two cases if I need to use the A but some may like to lug both around all the time? What other holes would you wish, want, desire in a case besides the regular parts and maybe an extra barrel - an extra mouthpiece?. I carry all the other assessories (cork treatment, reeds, screw driver, etc., etc., etc.) in the side pocket and music in a plastic folio - just enough for the gig, otherwise I have too much to sift through. Any other ideas for this concept are welcome (p.s. I do not sell cases at present).

you can use a protec soprano sax case but you will have to leave the bell on . i used one for my old conn metal clarinet and some times put my pruefer rubber clarinet in it on gigs where i have to walk a long way from the car. protec sop.cases have a shoulder strap and compartment to hold a fold up music stand. i did get a case for the metal eventually on ebay.(seems like anything you could ever want shows up eventually)

I've been working too much of late so the sleep deprived brain gets some pretty bizzare thoughts- but just to follow up on Terry's post, what about a case drop contest - like the kid's egg drop? How about a 20 foot drop onto a concrete surface? I personally have done the 3 foot drop onto concrete several times with my regular case and clarinet inside (clumsy) !!!! (The previous posts have talked about dull and boring - try this on for size)

I would check out the Rossi case. Remember you said it is a FB Bb, that means you will have to have a Rossi or other case designed for an A clarinet. The FB is as long as a standard A.

One can make and finish a wooden box of the proper size, mount the hinges, handle and the latches, and then take them off. Carefully saw it into two pieces. This assures that the hardware can be properly mounted for precise closure. Using some styrofoam, form the interior and line it with velvet. You then have a very nice custom case. Good luck!
