Hmmm - Does anyone know if the typical Leblanc resotone woodlike bells and barrels were also produced from real wood, that is maintaining the same color? I guess the opus offered for sale at e-bay (see reference below) does not have a resotone woodlike barrel, or does it? I myself own a leblanc Spirit with the same type of bell and barrel and although the seller assured me it is from real wood, the normal Spirit has a resotone woodlike bell and barrel. I know my Spirit has some extra features (silverplated keywork and ATR) but I have not been able to figure out if the bell and barrel are real wood or resotone. I appologize for these rather trivial questions but maybe someone out there can help. Thanks a lot!

I've got an opus and both the bell and barrel are unstained wood.
By the way, I would be leary about paying close to retail for an Opus unless you can return it for a full refund (not including shipping, of course) if you don't like it. I've heard that a good number of Opus' aren't so great, so it's better to get one that has been hand picked by a reliable person (such as Brenda Siewert).

The Opus has beautiful unstained grenadilla wood. No stain to wipe off when you wipe down your clarinet before putting it to bed. But, lately the selection of Opus clarinets from Leblanc has been less than desirable, so I would wait a year or so until things get back on track at Leblanc. Unless of course you run across a good one.
If your Spirit is a silver-keyed model, chances are good that you have real wood bell and barrel. Resotone is a type of plastic and is used on Vito model Leblancs. You might go to the Leblanc website at <www.gleblanc.com> and look up the Spirit and other available models.

Thanks, I was a little confused. According to the Leblanc catalogue the normal Spirit (Bb) had a resotone woodlike bell and barrel and nickel plated keywork and no ATR. When I had my Spirit bought by my brother and a clarinet playing friend - (sounds crazy but I am living in Mexico and had my clarinet bought for me in Holland - no good clarinets available here in Mexico, at least not for reasonable prices) they were told that it was an all wood version and that the bell and barrel are made of unstained wood. I was just wondering if the resotone woodlike bell and barrel looks the same. By the way, the Spirit Bb is not sold anymore and has been removed from Leblanc's catalogue. Thanks again........
