I promised to report on the Patricola C once I had purchased it and spent some time with it. I started out looking for a rosewood and, after chatting with Lisa Argiris, decided to have her send out a grenadilla wood one that she highly recommended and had been saving back for an opera clarinetist she knew. It is really, really nice with a beautiful tone and is very responsive. For $1895.00 it's a bargain. I paid that much for a Leblanc Noblet C clarinet about 8 years ago and it wasn't nearly as good an instrument.
Perhaps this one is just a good one, but it has very good intonation all the way up the scale an is a real joy to play. I'm pretty impressed with them and have been thinking of purchasing a Bb in rosewood in the future.

Hi Brenda--Thanks for the report. Could you please comment on which mpc you use with the C and if you used the stcok barrel of a Chadash? Also, did you ever get a chance to try the LeBlanc Concerto or Opus C? Just wondering........Good Clarineting!

I use my Greg Smith wood mouthpiece (as well as his Kaspar) on the C and have a Chadash barrel, although I don't use it. The barrels that came with the Patricola were very nice with it and I'm going to send the Chadash back. They're great barrels and really help the tone of the Buffet Cs, but didn't change anything on the Patricola significantly enough to warrant the additional $$.
No, didn't try any others but the Patricola because after my research I had decided the Buffets and the Patricolas were the best ones to try. I asked Lisa what she thought the very finest C clarinet on the market was (and I think she is one who would have a pretty good idea) and she confirmed that belief. So, I opted for the Patricola. She was especially "glowing" about this one, so I didn't ask about any other brands. Since I'd tried others in the past and been disappointed I didn't want to waste the time or money involved in having them shipped in on my credit card.

Brenda--does yours' have any of the extra keywork, such as the left hand Eb/Ab key or articulated G#/C#? Also, $1,895.00 is high for a Noblet. My Leblanc Esprit C was $1,995.00 and is considered an "entry-level" pro model. I've been pretty happy with the Esprit but I'd like to have the extra keywork. I've had my eye on the Patricola for a long time and a few more favorable reviews such as yours' might push me over the top to getting one.

Yes, mine has the extra Eb/Ab key and is very nice since my Bb is a Buffet Festival with the extra key. Go to the Patricola website and see photos of the C clarinet.
