As a former Eb player, I enjoy all the numerous jokes about its unique tone. My band director used to call it "The Beast" or "The Witch." In recent postings I've seen "Halloween" and "swine pipe." What's your favorite term of insult/affection?

Is "The Witch" a reference to the Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique?
What about "The Headache?" Not creative but so true.

I call my Eb alto the monster in my closet as that is where it usually resides when not in use ~Cathy

I often refer to it as the "baby"
or
The clarinet I accidentally put in the dryer. You be surprised how many kids say "Really??"
