Im just writing to say how happy i am! Ive just got back from getting a new RC (Bb)! I also got the Portnoy BP3 mp and the Vandoren Optimum lig. its a great set up for me and it should be the amount of time i spent choosing it!! I tried lots of R13s but certainly chose the RC because it was exactly the sound Im after. It has a gorgeous tone and Im going to look after it very well!!!!
Thank you very much for giving me your ideas on the Rovner and the Vandy Optim early this month.
One very happy Sarah!

Congratulations! I am so jealous!! I have a Festival Bb and an RC A.....I got the RC after the Festival and now people tell me that they wish the sound of my Bb could match the sound of my A. Even though technically it would be downgrading, I'd love to find a really nice RC to replace my Festival but I dont think I would dare propose this to my parents. They might just kill me after the trouble they went to when getting the Festival.

Hope you enjoy it for a long, long time.
And Aussie Nick, as a parent and a grandparent, you're right--your parents wouldn't be overjoyed at buying you another expensive clarinet after the expense of the Festival. But, you could always save your own money toward one.

Nick -
Bb and A clarinets are not supposed to sound alike. Enjoy the difference.
By the way, as I said a few days ago, I played several Greenline Festival Bbs that Francois Kloc brought to New York for a show, and I loved them.
There's probably more variation from RC to RC and Festival to Festival than there is between the RC an Festival as different models. Don't depend on model names -- just on how the instrument plays.
Best regards.
