An articulated G# is a mechanism which allows you to hold down the G# key while using the notes of the right hand like the saxophone. It adds more mechanics to the horn and can work with the existing or extra bridge mechanisms. Most people can live without this mechanism especially if you start on the clarinet. Convenient but totally unnecessary.
