Well i will sum it up for you...
What I didn't do well:
My 1st piece
This caught me off gaurd. This was teh first thing i had to play. I had been practcing it like scales then pieces. My tounging wasn't clear but.. Oh well
Breathing
I guess it was my nervousness... I couldn't hold my breath very long, 4 meausers.
What I did So so...
Scales
My g sharp key, the middle one, stuck and messed up a few, but otherwise OK.
What I did really well:
2nd piece
I played it Fast, articulated correctly and didn't miss a note. In my book, that's good!
Chromatic scale
Well, i did it good, better than the other scales.
Sightreading
The best 30 second sight reading i have ever done!
I will remember this experience for along time!!!
All county pretty soon!

Looks like you have a good handle on things, Ted. That took guts. If we learn nothing from our 'mistakes', how to deal with things on the fly, we're in a pretty sorry state. Some of us totally wilt under circumstances you describe. You've cleared probably the biggest hurdle of your musical journey; that, whatever happens, keep on tootin'. Keep it up, Ted. Your future in music will open doors you've never dreamed of :]

Ditto to all ron b just said to you.
The attitude you display is precisely that of a winner. Winners don't necessarily win all the time, they just know how to take their licks and come up fighting!
While these events are very important, if you don't allow them to impress you into a state of awe, you'll be able to relax and give your best.
A close friend worked for the Associated Press many years ago, and he once told me that he became a much better photographer the day he started thinking of the president of the United States as just another guy he was "shooting" (of course, he meant photographing.)
I understood him to mean that while he concentrated on the person's importance, whoever he/she may be, he was not properly concentrating on being as good a photographer as he could be. When quit being impressed by his subjects' importance he freed himself to be the artist he wanted to be.
You'll do better next time. You sound like you've got what it takes!

I did a similar effort on my first practical exam -- I only just scraped through! my next one is in september, so I'll be ready for it this time... wether the squeak machine likes it or not!
