Sorry for posting it in the other board, but this one seems to have more activity, anyway, my local music store has a Penzel Clarinet for 125 dollars, is it worth it?

They made all quality instruments. Was the top model was the 'Brilliante'? If so, and if it is in good shape, then certainly. To paraphrase Ellington, if it plays good, it is good. Search the archives for Penzel and probably you will find some info on the various models. It is is an old, beat up student model that needs repadding, take a pass.

Is it Penzel? or Penzel - Mueller which is their later name, believe they made cls etc until about 1960. My first good cl was a P - M full Boehm, dated to the 1920's, still a good one! Yes, Search the Phorum. Don

Ah, yes, my P.-M. "Brilliante." The second-worst clarinet I've ever played.
