Has anyone explained to you about diaphragm breathing C.R.? You breathe (through the sides of your mouth) deeply, from the 'bottom' of your lungs and out, rather than from the 'top', the chest. Practice taking in as much air as you can. Hold it. Then expel by pushing out rather than in. Your speed will increase as you get used to doing it that way and you will be able to play longer tones easier :]

If the rest is long enough, breathe through your nose. If you are short of time, from the sides of your mouth. Simple.
