hi
i'm absolutely loving this site, my first time visiting was yesterday, and i've gotten a lot of questions answered. now, i'm sorta thinking about summer music camps. i know, i know, next summer is a long time from now, but i want to go to some sort of music camp next summer, but i don't know of many. i went to blue lake fine arts camp last summer, and had a good time, but learned absolutely nothing from the teachers there, so i'm not going back. i know there's interlochen, but i'm not sure how i would do there considering the eliteness of it. basically, those are the only two i know of, and i know there are many many more out there, so maybe some of you can put in some recomendations. oh, and so you know what i'm actually looking for...i'm a pretty serious about clarinet...i want to go somewhere that will teach me some things...i don't want to go just to get away from home...although that will be nice. ok, thanks in advance!

I went to Idyllwild last month, and learned a lot--Yehuda Gilad teaches there, as well as Mel Warner and Amanda Walker. The orchestra is top-notch, and even if you don't make it into there, the wind ensemble is very good too.

You might do a search here on sneezy for this and "band camp". This topic has been discussed before but there may be some fresh info from those who may not have previously responded.

ok..... I went to this GREAT GREAT GREAT camp last year. I am not sure where you live but it is in Boone, North Carolina and just so you know we had someone who lived in California there!!! It is sooooo good. And the really good thing is, is that it doesn't cost that much at all!! (I am not quite sure how much I'll have to ask my mom) Oh for your infomation the camp is called Cannon Music Camp the website is http://www.cannon.appstate.edu/ There isn't that much but you can email them and ask for a pamphlet and they should send one. But It is sooo good. You can also go for voice, string instruments, and band instruments.
Well I hope you look into Cannon Music CAmp!!!

I went to Sewanee at the University of the South (in Tennessee) - which is a fine orchestral/chamber music camp. For "band" camps - you can't beat the summer sessions at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Interlochen ... very competitive, great teachers, an incredible location, expensive & memories to last a lifetime. I'm jealous because I didn't get to go, ever. mw

INTERNATIONAL MUSIC CAMP http://peacegarden.com/camps.html
Students from all over the world, excellant ensembles and top pro teachers. Two week sessions of intense musical activity and learning. A beautiful camp setting in the International Peace Garden on the US/Canadian border in North Dakota. Highly recommended!!!!!!
