I, like several of you on this board, like the concept of the Buffet Greenline material. My questions are: when will Boosey & Hawkes market their Buffet Moennig and Chadash barrels in the Greenline material and do you suppose there will come a time when manufacturers will actually recycle older grenadilla wood from discarded clarinets into new instruments, rather than simply using their left over wood in the usual manufacturing process. The advantages for Greenline barrels are stability of material after manufacturing and consistency in the product.

I like the idea of eclectic barrels! My Chadash doesn't exactly match my R-13's wood, and it doesn't bother me at all. In fact, I rather like it. SO, given that matching the exteriors isn't an issue, Buffet should probably spend their money elsewhere.
Greenline upgraded barrels would no doubt be expensive barrels in comparision to the offered wood upgrades. Also, with Chadash there are so many to try out to assist in finding the RIGHT one. Would that be the case with a Greenline Chadash?
IF they offered an Chadash in Greenline for the SAME price, I would probably agree to go for it.

I'm waiting for B & H to recycle ME and re-mold me into a better clarinet player....then I could be known as Greenline Dave.............sorry for the silliness, it's been a bit of a stressful week here on the Right Coast.

MW, don't you think the variety you have found in Chadash barrels is due to the vagaries of wood. Doesn't Chadash have one bore design in mind and wouldn't that bore be more readily available in the Greenline material? In addition, why would the Greenline barrel be more expensive when the Grenadilla R13 and the Greenline R13 are the same price?

1. Absolutely 2. WHOA ..... never mix an ounce of common sense with capitalism or the desire for profits or lessening of losses!
The Greenline Barrel would LOSE on the quantity end of things. The demand isn't there (yet --- and may never be).
