For those of you who use the Maestro TK thumb rest...does your clarinet fit in its case OK or do you have to change the case to accomodate the larger rest? Kinda dumb question but was curious before I bought one.

Hi Lynn,
The TK thumbrest is clipped onto a plate which is fixed to the clarinet.
The plate itself takes less spece than a regular thumbrest so no problem here.
I unclip the TK from the clarinet and then put the horn in its case and the thumbrest in the space in front of the case or in my bag.

It 's awesome!
I used to feel pain in my wrist after barely 30 minutes of practising.
I stopped playing for a week, rested my wrist then put the TK on the horn and since then I have not had any problems.
However, it does not magically make the clarinet weightless but distributes the weight on the complete forearm. I get sour from playing after 2 hours but I have no wrist pain.
Also, for the TK Maestro you will need about a week to find your optimal configuration and to get used to it. So don't switch right before a concert!
I hear that some people are very happy with a neckstrap. I tried but hated it. It felt very uncomfortable. It might work for you give it a try it's cheap.
