I'm listening to an Al Gallodoro masterclass CD
that I got from an older Saxophone Journal Mag.
What an inspiration ! 88 years old !!
This lead me to go to his website .
There I've discovered that his clarinet is a
Series 9 , although those are reputed to have
intonation issues , right ?
I guess _not_ for Al.
His Bass clarinet is a Selmer from ... 1935 !
I'm amazed that instrument has lasted so long .
Al is really a marvel ; a real national treasure.

A Master Class is one Clarinetist playing. Suggest you go back and read what was written (search the Sneezy BB archive) ... specifically you might want to look at the posts from HAT (David Hattner). best, mw

I had a chance to have coffee with Al at the fest. He is a real kick. He is bright and alert and a real fun guy.
Eddie Daniels call him up on stage with him. Al really took over. He told us that he had done his first gig at the Orpheum in this pit --73 years ago.
And can he play. he had a ball. it was joy watching him go. Eddie had the biggest smile on this face and was have a great time.
Connie and I were in the second row and got to enjoy this special moment up close and personal.
They listed his horn as a Selmer series 9 (Gold Plated Keys"

He's so awesome. I wrote him when I first started bass clarinet for suggestions on some literature. He went above and beyond and sent me a copy of some music! Glad to hear he still does some gigs. Wish I could have been at the fest.
