I'm back to playing after 30 years of letting my clarinet sit in a closet. I have a b&h 2-20 and at the advise of the tech who got it back in shape and my teacher i'm going to replace my mp.I'm mostly interested in playing blues & some jazz ....now heres my problem do I buy a vandoren 5JB as the tech recomended w/a rovner lig or do I make my teacher happy and get the b45 with a rovner or a vandoren lig ? I'm playing for my own satisfaction and as a stress reliever so I think I should get the jazz mp ..any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

You could compromise with the B45 Dot. All in all good mouthpieces. Why don't you try them out and make up your mind.

i have both and can tell you the 5jb is a much more expressive mpc. bigger sound and is easyer to play with more expression. in short a great blues and jazz mpc.the much larger tip is tiring to play and you will need softer reeds.igot the b45 for use in german band and it is a good all purpose mpc. i am not a classical clarinet player but a doubler with sax as my primary inst.but i do have a lot of jazz exp.onclarinet . iwould get the 5jb

Why not use both settings for Jazz and Classic for mouthpiece and reed? Rovner Eddy Daniel will work for both.
