Why is it that whenever I'm thumbing through catalogs I never see any Buffet Festivals? I'm curious to know about them!!!

Festivals usually areb't in big name things because boosey and hawks usually reserves those for the smaller places so that they have some advantage and business over the big corporations. If you go to the actual stores, I'm sure that you'll find that they offer Festivals in store only.

Buffet has a very special contract with those stores that carry the Festivals. They cannot market it in a catalog, or sell it online. It's only for walk-in traffic. This is why WW&BW sell them, but don't list them in the catalog. They're agreement with Boosey prohibits that.

I have a new Festival I bought from Brook Mays Music in Dallas, Tx. I went to all their stores in that area and and played all I could find to play. Most of their stores had one in stock. Or, they can get one within a couple of days.
Buffet dealers can't sell these online, as mentioned above. You have to walk in (or call in) to buy one.
And, I might add, they are worth the "walk." Mine is absolutely beautiful to play and a joy.

My Festival is best instrument I have ever played. I am sold after many years of Selmer and Leblanc playing.

What makes you like/appreciate your Festival (s) so much? I know many people also play an R13... I've never played a Festival so I've wondered about them.

Susie,
I played many R13s and Festivals and to tell you the truth I liked the Festival from the start. As far as telling you why, well that is a little difficult. To me, (please undertand this is not scientific) the Festival has a better scale for me. (earier to play in tune) It may be my mouthpiece or embourchure. The Festival has a compact solid sound that I like and the resistance is to my liking. Many professionals play many instruments of many makers. Our job is to find one we like and work every day to play the instrument and understand music.

I knew right away that my Festival was going home with me. I'd tried several around the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and it was the best of all of them. I can't describe it and I've been buying/selling/trading clarinets for several years. But, the tone was so sweet and clear. It simply "played itself" almost all the way up and down all three registers. The top note was as clear and rich as the bottom and the key action was so perfect that it didn't change at all when it came back from the Brannen's after having their service done on it. Linda Brannen said everyone seems to love their Festivals.
Mine has all the volume I need and plays very well in tune. It is beautiful to top it off!
