The old and outdated design of Buffet clarinets particularly the keywork and not so great intonation prevented me from playing my best for a long time.
I tried Royal Global clarinets, and these issues have been resolved. The keywork feels and works much better and particularly the intonation is much better too.
I'm playing much better on Royal Global than ever before.

It is good to hear that you've found a solution for yourself and the way you play. It is important to know as well that there are many different ways around specific playing challenges. Traditionally though, for many (MANY) years Buffet and Selmer were pretty much the only choices, with Buffet offering the preferred sound for classical music. To this day you'll find a majority of US orchestral sections populated with Buffets due to the fact that teachers learned from their teachers and passes on the way to play to their students. Today though you CAN find other brands sneaking their way into what is still predominantly a Buffet orchestral world (in the US).

Thanks for this "JB", I've just realised there's a pattern- when I played Yamaha I won 3 auditions and an international competition (plus the Concerto competition at 2 Universities). Since I switched to Buffet I've only one ONE audition and nothing else (by which I mean, I've FAILED at lots of auditions).... aha!!!! Now I know what the problem has been.... Buffet clarinets let me down!

It's so good to hear that Royal Global clarinets automatically tune with other players and also know which harmonic function each note has! (Besides adjusting intonation on their own to remain stable at different dynamics and temperatures.) All other brands have really let me down in this regard.
And how stupid of me to have spent so much of my life practising all that difficult music on outdated keywork.
I look forward to vast improvements in my playing as soon as I get the new instruments.

That's why I had my Buffet overhauled so it would not let me down. It was done well with a few tweaks that they missed at the bridge.
